The design of a website is one of the most important assets to an online presence. The numerous researches have proven that the average person spends from 4 to 7 seconds to decide if he or she wants to stay on a website or move on, and this is the reason why it is so important that your website is well designed. But what do we mean when we say well designed? In fact, the design is not only about color selection, logo, fonts etc. A great role plays the way the information is located and organized on the web page. The web designer always needs to care about how easy it is to read and find the info.
Column layout came to web design from typography, and it has been proven that this way of presenting the information is the most convenient for the reader.
In website design the designers usually use a 2 or 3 column layout, depending on the type of a website. A 2 column layout is mostly used for smaller websites, while 3 column layout works for websites with a bigger amount of content.
2 column layout is not a design feature, it is a way the information and menus are located on the website. But still it plays an important role for website design, and when working on the website, the first thing the designer is to think and speak with a client about is the structure of the future website.
Below I tried to select the most interesting and creative websites with 2 column layout.

The websites with 2 column layout make probably the largest category of websites. Such websites are very easy to use and read, they do not look stuffed with information and elements.
The layout type plays a more important role for the web design than it might seem, and you’ve got to choose it depending on the kind of the website.
